Join ArtblogNY at the EXPO1: MoMA-VW Opening Cocktail Party This Saturday
Win an invitation to be a guest of ArtblogNY, Volkswagen, and MoMA at the opening event this Saturday. To enter the draw, make a meaningful comment on this blog before Wednesday, May 8.
I have 8 pairs of invitations to give away, and will also be attending the cocktail event (it ain’t a New York City party unless there are cocktails.)
The partnership is based on Volkswagen’s Think Blue initiative, which embodies Volkswagen’s goal of creating environmentally friendly products and solutions and contributing to a sustainable future. Volkswagen puts focus on innovative, environmentally-friendly vehicles that are also fun to drive. The models feature a variety of technologies, including TDI® Clean Diesel and Hybrid engines, designed to make the vehicles as efficient and powerful as possible. Volkswagen has also applied Think Blue to the production process with its state-of-the-art Chattanooga plant in Tennessee, which is the first and only automotive manufacturing facility in the world that has been given the renowned LEED Platinum Award for outstanding energy efficiency.
With all the cutbacks in public funding that support the arts, I think that it is interesting that a big corporation can find ways to support the arts and engage the public in their efforts to design products that are environmentally friendly.
My last 3 cars have been VW’s and I’ve got to say the quality of the craftsmanship has been really great (although we’ve always chosen those models which are manufactured in Germany.)
I also remember that it was VW who put one of the first gay-positive ads on tv, back when it was still a rather risky move.
